Overview & History

Alipore Zoo is India's oldest formal zoo and a major tourist attraction. It is famous as the home of the giant Aldabra tortoise Adwaita, who lived for over 250 years. It houses Royal Bengal tigers, elephants, giraffes, zebras, and an aquarium.
